WORKING WITH ME

I love photographing families in meaningful places, often outdoors. I try to balance candid, documentary style imagery with portraits that feel editorial, seasonal and rooted in place. 

While it depends on the personalities of the young people I work with, my sessions tend to be kid-forward. This means I let them help direct or lead (as appropriate) so they don't feel quite as cagey, frustrated, or bored. I don't expect your little ones to smile or sit still and I try to build in moments where it feels natural for them to play and show me their world. The galleries that I strive to deliver are ones that look and feel reflective of your family, right here and right now - wherever that may be.

The Process

  • Choose a session

    A Yard Session is for at home sessions in Minneapolis and in St Paul neighborhoods south of Summit Ave and west of 35E.

    An everyday session is for any and all locations within and hour of the Twin Cities.

    A long session is for locations over an hour outside the Twin Cities, or for sessions that include extended family or multiple families.

  • Find a location

    This might be your backyard, a nearby park, a state or regional park, a cabin in the woods or a playground down the street.

    My work is best when your family has a connection to where we are, but this doesn’t mean

    Every project is different. We stay flexible and responsive to make sure the process fits your flow—not the other way around.
